Thread: Planet Coaster

  1. Planet Coaster

Planet Coaster has been in development for what feels like forever but it's almost done. November 17, 2016! It's made by Frontier, known for Elite: Dangerous and Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (which I though was pretty bad).

Planet Coaster looks like it could pick up the mantle from RCT 2, which is something like 15 years old now. Atari has been making Rollercoaster Tycoon World and that seems to be bouncing between various levels of development hell.

This will push everybit of hardware you have:

    Planet Coaster Minimum System Requirements

  2. VR support for going on coasters?

  3. Jonny Watts "We’re definitely experts in VR, and we know what we’re doing, but that’s all I’m going to say on that subject!"

That was from an interview published 5 months ago. It's not going to be in at launch. Elite: Dangerous has VR support, so it's just a matter of time. I'd imagine it would be a limited feature though. Like once on a ride, it would simplify the background/themeing to keep the frame rate up. I don't think anyone has the rig to keep the park sim going as you whip around.
