But, perhaps I mean this in a more global aspect. Say the nationalists re-achieve segregation - this may work in certain areas, where the black/white divide is strong. Minus the act of genocide (while possible, I don't consider it a likely outcome of the next 4 years, despite the crying on both sides) how can we actually achieve white nationalism? There are more poor white scattered across the country than blacks. They aren't going to magically be given living wages because that's socialist, so.....? Do we re-establish them in urban areas to work? Work camps? Do we bring factory labor back to the states and jack up the price of goods tenfold so that the poor whites are further priced out of their income bracket? How exactly do white nationalists propose, logically, to make this work? I'm curious, I really am.

I love watching Maher but the Islam stuff gets wayyyyyy too out there and ignorant for a Jewish guy to be speaking like he does. If we factored in the violence and mental health issues that "domestic" religions cause (think suicides from families who practice religions that don't accept LGBTQ members, mental illness/self harm/drug addictions/overdoses stemming from religious family abuse, etc) the whole Muslim thing becomes the least of our problems. His ethnocentric nonsense can get annoying. But the guests are usually good so there's that.

I think I understand where you're coming from, but at the same time isn't he also like the only person at that level of media calling out how bent shit like Yemen is, and the only other way to do that honestly is to strongly undermine the real neoliberalist agendas of Obama, Clinton, etc, which gives credence to the Trump crowd? Religion is easier to target than economic stratification, and the worst of both thrive together.

Don't drink the Kool-Aid. A lot of any Western perception of Buddhism is highly informed by a very successful and modern brand of propaganda. While it may not be writ large in canon (coincidentally, the majority of Buddhists that ever existed were illiterate), Buddhist sectarian violence has historically killed more people than ANY other religious conflicts have.

But Buddhism has varied a lot over millenia and geography. Just like Christianity and Islam, and everything else. And gets shittier the worse things are for people.
