it's supremely rad hardware
One of the cooler original games I've played on it is Geograph Seal, an early game by the Jumping Flash devs:
also this is where Castlevania Chronicles (which rules) came from
Surprisingly no one has made a thread for this. Not really a console, but a alternative computer system using a slightly different set up than what would become standard.
Who gives a shit? It was used to develop a lot of arcade games and like the neo geo had some nearly perfect arcade ports.
Now I want one. Or at least a good emulator (its ok to emulate a PC with an open source OS, right?)

There X68000 rules, but too expensive for me to get a working rig with all the goodies. One of my buds got a basic one for free and still sunk $500 to get the keyboard, ram, and other stuff. I gave him a Multisync LCD monitor I had laying around.
There is a thread about it somewhere, I'm sure of it.
I've almost bought one a hundred times, yet even when I was at my "buy eveything japanese and obscure" worst in the late 90s the software was too expensive and I'm not fond of floppies.
I've always found it interesting and impressive, but too expensive and exotic to really get into.
I'd say it ranks right up there with the Amiga and the Archimedes as one of the coolest late 80's/early 90's home computers.
A lot of dope versions of Wolfteam's 16-bit games on X68000. Granada, Sol Feace, Arcus Odyssey, etc. It supported Roland MT-32 and Motoi Sakuraba worked miracles on it.
It was powerful hardware for the time, especially compared to more popular Japanese PCs like PC-98.
And yeah, Geograph Seal is like Star Fox and Jumping Flash made a baby and it's as good as that sounds.

Surprise! Merge please... probably with Korian's.
That last part has always been my issue with getting one.
I always drool at the X68000. I think it looks cool as fucking hell, one of the coolest looking systems ever. Maybe some day if I win the lottery I can get one.
You can get floppy drive emulators that store images on an SD card.
I don't know much about the X68K, but there may be a way to play games from a hard drive as well. Amiga has WHDload, and there's no technical reason why something similar couldn't be made for this. Whether or no someone has bothered to do so, I really have no idea.
