Games are getting stupid expensive to make. No one wants to pay for them, but everyone wants them to have the highest budget possible. So lo, season passes, lootboxes, online subscriptions, and whatever other means a publisher can come up with.
That stuff will exist as long as its viable. When it's not? They'll either find some new way to get the 'real' cost of these games out of you, or a crash will come. Personally, the games I want to see more of don't require 100 million dollar budgets, and would probably weather a collapse. So support this, don't - I'm not icensed by it either way.
