Thread: Audio level baselines?

  1. Audio level baselines?

I've been putting public domain music and basic sfx in a game just so I have a structure to work with once I actually need real music.

The volume levels for everything are all over the place, naturally. I can adjust individual sound/music levels per file, and I've built in an sfx/music slider so people can set those groups however they like.

But is there a standard decibel level or whatever I should be shooting for for this stuff? I know nothing about working with audio.

-edit: this is a pretty good article.

This is going to be a whole thing.

  2. Yeah, welcome to your doom.

If there isnít a standard then find a game you like and use its volume levels for reference. Note: I donít really understand game audio.
