  1. OK, maybe opening suitcases for inspection is a bit much for a hotel. Metal detectors instead?
    I can understand someone carrying a single handgun to the hotel room, as long as it's for storage only. A couple dozen guns like the Mandalay Bay shooter had with him is another thing.
    He carried in more than 10 suitcases, far more than one person should reasonably need. Red flag.

    Gun laws should be moderate- not too strict, but not like Nevada's either. Nevada's gun laws are over-relaxed. You don't have to be licensed or register your weapon, nor is there a limit on how many guns you can possess. CCW does require a permit, at least.

  3. Did he bring all ten suitcases in at the same time? Even if he did, I don't think it would raise any suspicions.
    I've stayed at that hotel. There are big trade shows and conventions there, and people have all kinds of stuff in tow. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a guy to bring a shitload of stuff to his room.

  7. From everything I’ve read nothing that guy did was illegal until he opened fire on another human being. It’s an unfortunate circumstance that shouldn’t punctuate our decision making. Gun crime and violent crime is down across the board, after all. Reducing guns in circulation would probably help, but American values are at odds with that nanny state (socialist) idea. A bigger problem is it’s not addressing the underlying motive most of these men seem to have — resentment and lack of power. Their name being plastered all over the media gives them just that.

    What i’d like to see is America reform or have journalists agree not to publish the names of the perpetrators. This removes most of the power these spree killings grant them. They are looking for some notoriety against a world they resent because they didn’t get something they wanted—it’s Fe’s college alarm clock response amped up 10x. A similar model worked up here in Canada for juvenile offenders btw. News can’t publish the names of juvenile offenders. Guess what happened to youth crime?

  9. It's hard to hate a group of random people. You saying he had a thing against Jason Aldean fans?

    What would need to be done in order to get the media in line is a mass boycott. The only way to get America to stop doing anything is to fuck with its money, or at least threaten to.

    I don't understand how a small group of religious idiots can get major media outlets to harass entertainers I like, sometimes putting them out of a god damn job, but the huge amount of people against guns and gun violence can't coordinate to get major media outlets to stop making celebrities out of murderers.
