they'll never fix it because of the fucking fire code. Which is double dumb because most schools are now built out of shit that won't burn.

I can understand needing multiple ways out in case of fire or whatever else. The front door should be the only entrance, with a metal detector equipped mantrap like jewelers & banks often use.
A receptionist would see who's in there then decide whether or not to admit them.
