Thread: The Thoughts and Prayers thread. Brought to you by the NRA

  1. And pay guys like a Charlton Heston to promote guns.

Heston: "Damned you dirty apes! Buy guns, before it's too late!"

  2. Icarus - I'm so sorry. I can't imagine how you feel right now.

As far as the politics of the NRA and gun measures go, the lobby is so strong and so uncontested by both sides in power that this may as well be our new normal for the next decade or so. Mass/School Shootings will not be decreased by rigid gun control at this point, unfortunately. I'd love to be optimistic but I'm not. Not to mention, most guns used for crimes are acquired illegally, which limp legislation couldn't help anyway, unless there is a definitive, rigid decision to crack down on black markets.....which there won't be.

At this point, all we can hope for is some sort of cohort effect that lapses people out of the behavior, and onto a new mode of violence. I have no clue what that will be, but I'm sure the media will direct us in the path soon enough. Believe it or not, school shootings will reach a saturation point before the numbers begin going down, but i don't think we've reached saturation yet. That's a bleak view, but it's very clear that those in power are unwilling and at times unable to do the bare minimum that would keep legal guns out of the hands of people who cannot handle them. Let alone keeping illegal guns out of their hands!!!!

It becoming a new normal would probably make the number go down, in the long run. A lot of these kids fantasize about the fame the shooting will give them. If it becomes normal and boring, they will daydream about some other perverse act and never reach the actual act.

I’m shocked chemical weapons aren’t used. A chlorine bomb is easy to make.
    Boo, Hiss.

No one has put that idea in their heads yet. If we made games and movies about that, they might start.

This shit is like people that get into fetishes porn then fly out to Thailand to have some midget cross dresser duck them with a tableleg. The average person would have never thought to do it without watching lots of videos.

Not that watching videos or playing games makes you do anything. But it let's people sit around and fantasize about preexisting desires. Without the industry, they would probably go find something else to do and never get to the point they have to make the fantasy real.

  7. The WH doesn't want to release the photo of Annoying Orange signing the order to make it easier for mentally disturbed people to more easily acquire guns. Gee, I wonder why...

good point! Especially with the internet availability, i'm surprised more people haven't!
I'm curious what the next "crime wave" will be - and when. We're still in a point of crime decline, as far as the data is concerned - but that could change any time!

Yes, considering how we refuse to repair our infrastructure, its probably only a matter of time before drinking water has lead in it again and we start to see an increase in crime.

Or if Trump actually bans abortion.

  10. he won't, but he may make them harder to get in the states that need them the most.
