Watch the scene in context of the movie and maybe you'll think differently.
Why are you reading this? go to your general settings and uncheck the Show Signatures box already!

That Dalton one is Licence to Kill. Not bad. They show a more brutal side of 007 here, & it is one of the more graphic ones.
Goldeneye is great... maybe one of my top 3 favorite JB movies. One part I loved in Goldeneye was where 007 asks "Who's strangling the cat". In Soviet Russia, cat strangle you!

I love the Bond films but as it has already been pointed out, they're very period-specific and need to be watched within that context. I grew up with Roger Moore and he was always "my" Bond, but in retrospect many of his films are relentlessly campy. I saw the Connery stuff later on and appreciated their slightly harder edge, but they were pretty shitty in their portrayals of most of the women, like in Goldfinger when Bond needs to engage in "man talk" and smacks a bikini-clad girl on the ass to shoo her off.
I recall Moore smacking around a few women as well, in addition to all of the rampant insta-fucking of random, nameless vaginas that's a Bond trademark. I was actually pleasantly shocked that this aspect was kept to a minimum in Casino Royale.
Yeah, it's still creepy. Pussy Galore was originally written as a lesbian in Ian Fleming's novel, and the general disinterest in men aspect carried over into the movie pretty strongly up until that point of that scene.
I remember watching a documentary on Bond Girls, hosted by a former Bond Girl who appeared quite bitter from her experience, that was fairly critical of how many of the female characters were portrayed and the overall rapey aspects of the films, but I can't find it. There's one called Bond Girls Are Forever, but after watching a few clips on YouTube that doesn't appear to be it (unless I'm remembering it differently).

I never really understood the appeal of James Bond films. They're very bland as action flicks, and very dumb as spy movies.
A View To a Kill is A+++
Duran Duran, Christopher Walken, Grace Jones. Good times.
