Ever since I went music only in the car, no NPR, I've been a much happier boy.
When I visit family I end up seeing hours of local news. I don't know if we just didn't watch local news or the news has changed since I was a child but their is a good hour of reporting deaths.
This can't be healthy as either a way to start or end your day. I'm so glad I don't have cable or satellite.
As an aside, you can also see too political extremes bloom from this shit. If you are already liberal, this daily dose of gun crime will reassure you that guns are evil and if you hate the poor or brown people, you'll be reassured of their murderous intent.
Honestly though, I do not remember this parade of death. The worst thing they did was watch the weather channel for 1+ hours.

Is there anyway to start a class action lawsuit against these news sites and channles for emotional damages? Pretty sure they're one of many causes of suicide and depression for visiting family during the holidays.
I think a lot of crime is a direct response to how news portrays things. Mass shooters are given a lime light for their misdeeds for example. It would be much better if the news was more basic boring facts and less sensationalism. The pics from Sandy Hook can only be described as victim porn.
I recently began reading the news like an old timer. Printed media has the innate attribute of being boring and slow which can help alleviate the annoying demands of new media.

news sucks because we the people suck.
They need ratings and we are more apt to look at a train wreck than something mundane.
Let them show boobs instead.
Mexican news is on the right track.
Also all those weird Japanese pornos wherein a hundred salarymen jerk off onto a nice reporter lady's face while she continues to read the evening news the entire time.
