Thread: The Mandalorian

  1. Well I subscribed and just watched the first two episodes. Overall, I really enjoyed the show and I'm looking forward to the next 6 episodes. I liked the slower pacing, the sparse dialogue, keeping Mandy's helmet on so far (very shows/movies will have a faceless protagonist...I wish it happened more), and the overall darker tone than the recent movies. I'm even glad the eschewed the traditional Star Wars music in favor of something a little more unique (albeit odd in parts).

Yeah, there are some cliched elements, but overall it's very solid and the best Star Wars anything Disney has churned out thus far, IMO.

Well, Mandy walked into a room unexpectedly filled with Stormtroopers, so I assume he was already a little on edge. I can understand his reaction.

But getting jumped by the enormous clumsy animals...yeah, that was dumb.

However, I did get a laugh out of him vaporizing all those Jawas, although he probably should have just killed all of the little fuckers with his flamethrower later on instead of negotiating with them. Or, at least, he should have strafed the sandcrawler once he got his ship back together.

Yeah, that rarely came up in the original trilogy. You see Luke's X-Wing being fueled (unleaded please) up in A New Hope, yet he was jumping across the galaxy in Empire. The Death Star had a reactor, that was destroyed by a X-Wing torpedo and later by the Millenium Falcon in Return of the Jedi. Reactors have a long life before they need to be replentished.

  3. No-Prize Answer: That could easily be a "hyperdrive is it's own thing, short distance / in-atmosphere flight requires fuel" thing. Hybrids!

They're all over the place with it though. You see docked ships in SW movies getting (presumably) fueled all the time, but it rarely comes up in dialog until recently.

  4. I mean, it's current Star Wars, but Episode 8's events revolved around the ship's fuel.
Why are you reading this? go to your general settings and uncheck the Show Signatures box already!

  5. I think that's been a big point of contention, yeah.

It's like fuel problems (or bullet count for that matter) in any other story, they're there if they introduce a dramatic problem, otherwise it's completely invisible.

  6. In the prequel when they were escaping Naboo, the ship got shot up and they were leaking fuel, so they couldn't make it back to Coruscant.

  7. I'm sure fuel problems are all the fuck over the old Marvel comics, too. Fake controversy?

The biggest issue is no one really likes it coming up but probably just became a thing after the shitty Star Wars 8. Seems to make the universe of SW a bit smaller.

  9. Every goddamn story revolves one way or another around the same 12 people. The universe can't get any smaller.

It could be one of those ewok movies. I think one of them was about like 2 or 3 people.
