Thread: Every old school TNL member should basically be a mod at this point

The thing is I thought that joining needed to be approved by cka or Nick to post here but these Chinese bots keep slipping thru the cracks. The only positive thing I'm seeing out of this thread is you guys are asking for the right to ban bots that spam here.

I really would 100% support this or maybe to make it more simple, just maybe add a few more mods to the forum. Maybe people who are way more active then some people here who could be trusted not to go all dick swinging all over the place.

I think I suggested Josh once as a mod and was turned down a long time ago. lol

  2. I don't think the bot problem is a big enough problem to let the lunatics run the asylum.
BK may not be omnipresent, but he takes care of them quickly enough. It's not like I wake up each morning to 1000 bot messages. There's usually only one or two and they're gone within a few hours at most.

I'd totally be down with disabling new accounts. Leave an email link for real people to use to if they want to (re)join. Plenty of other forums seem to do it and it works for them.

I don't think cka or Nick likes you very much.

@SSJN, Honestly it's not really a problem hammering them. On Sega-16 it was super bad at one point I was playing whack-a-mole with bots spamming several pages.

  5. To be clear, I don't think we have a serious problem.

I just think that the days of hundreds of active daily posters and new people of value joining regularly are past us. When was the last time a new member joined and actually merged into the community? I really think it was over a decade ago.

So what we have now is a small, tight knit, mature(ish) community where the idea of a "more hands make less work" approach to mod duties is at least worth discussing within reason. There's probably a good dozen people that could be given mod powers right now and there would be zero negatives.

I can't say I disagree with you. There are a couple of dudes here tho I don't think would be a good fit for it since there's a lot of bad blood between some people here. I say ask cka or Nick or even PM them and show them this thread to let them weigh in their thoughts. I'm just here to flush out the spam these days so I'm the last person who really has any say on things here.

  7. I'll mod whoever* no fucks given at this point

(within reason, I know the username etc)

  8. How many do we need?

  9. I closed the board to new registrations.

  10. Is there a way to, in the future but no rush, make the board invite only?
