Thread: Speedrun Marathons

  1. Speedrun Marathons

I don't like to watch streamers any more than I like watching people train for the Olympics. But holy shit do I love the Olympics and boy do I find myself loving GDQ, RPG Limit Break and ESA for the last few years. When someone gets on screen and does something impressive in a game I like, while explaining it well, it's good times. Anyone else enjoy these events? What runs did you like?

I'm gonna start with my favorite fun from AGDQ2020, where TOMATOANGUS runs the entire Fallout Anthology in 2 hours with awesome commentary and even props:

  2. These are pretty interesting:

  3. I was thinking to make a Summoning Salt thread. His video on Pokemon Rev and Blue was the first of his I saw, and I've watched everything he's done now. He's so fucking good.

  4. Castlevania one was dope.

  5. I like GDQ since you get some banter and someone explaining some of what is going on, so I don't have to know much going into it. I don’t really catch much live but I’ll put stuff on while I’m working.
Here are two good runs I remember watching recently:
HeyZeusHeresToast playing Bloodborne all bosses, narrating his own run.

  6. I can't put two videos in one post, here's another:

Andy playing Zelda: Link to the Past Randomizer with twitch crowd control. Andy has to complete a randomly generated Zelda game while the chatroom is changing damage and other things live.
Why are you reading this? go to your general settings and uncheck the Show Signatures box already!

  7. That randomizer run is fucking dope. The idea of learning to play a randomizer sounds so painful to me, like the idea of learning to speedrun anything sounds so boring and tedious, but I'm so stoked there's dudes like Andy that can entertain me with nonsense like that.

  8. Where I play

  9. I caught that live, thinking I'd ignore it mostly and just keep playing whatever I was playing at the time, and about five seconds in I couldn't look away.

It's utter chaos the entire time and I love it.

I clicked on it planning to skip to the last boss, and then watched the whole thing. Absolutely bananas.
