If that last picture was a tad bit smaller, I would definitely use it in my sig, Kaneda....

Kaneda I hope you don't have any bugs in the house, with all those consoles on the floor. I've seen a few broken consoles fried via insect. *-neo
Naw, I'm good. My dog eats 'em.
Gorgeous.
(If I was on my other computer, I would have it myself...)

Kaneda,
I love the pics.I wonder how long until someone flames you for "bragging". Anyway, I too have the Neo version, but I love the game so much, I want everyone to be able to afford it. Not too mention, I'd like to have it on Dc since my Neo stick is a little iffy(and my pad is completely dead).
I agree on both. As should everyone.Level 5. For all eternity.
...
My request and reccommendation to everyone is to forget about anything Nemo posts and continue with the thread...
And I want Kaneda's setup. Now.
Not pictured is my Saturn (it's to the left of the Genesis/Sega CD), the PS2 (you can make it out if you squint at the very top right), the N64 (buried under wires), another Genny (under the N64), and my NES (buried under the N64 and second Genny). My set-up is nothing to be envious of...I can barely make it out of my room. Now where will that Duo go...?
i think my point was completely missed
what im saying is i want the game to be seen and played by as many people as possible
thus many good things happening for it
thus to do that it would be more effective to rally for a US release on a live system (by live i mean companies bringing new releases to it, not weither you play it or not, i still play my NES its not a live system any more)
the point being yes a DC release is nice, but how many people will import 500, 1000 tops probably not even
if it was pushed for a PS2 release in the US many more people will see it play it = more MS games
Ps2 owners = mainstream gamers.
DC owners = hardcore gamers.
Reasons:
-more 2d shmups and 2d fighters on dc (I have a hunch why)
-dc has native progressive scan support (50-60hz modes and vga support - this is also partly why its import friendly too, seeing as people from pal territories don't need to put up with bordered slowed-down versions of games like they do with most ps2 releases ie DMC, FFx, CVS2 etc)
-sony hate 2d, remember? (Why would I want them to help sony? They are ee-vil I tell ya! Who cares about $? Do it for the "True" fans!)
-ps2 gamers by nature of being mainstream, buy less games and spend less money per head, than the 'hardcore' do on games. (and less likely to import too) There is less chance (what with the crowded ps2 market) that a gamer would buy this particular type of game over a 'big name' release. And mainstream gamers have less $ to spend on games. There are more of these people overall, however, so it probably evens out. Probably one of the reasons why a release on both platforms is likely.
-Most hardcore gamers I know are multiplatform and have always preffered the dc versions of 2d games and less likely to buy the ps2 versions of 2d games. It's a quality issue. Most mainstream ps2 owners would be oblivious to any slight differences in things and so wouldn't be so anal-retentive over things that they wouldn't notice in the first place. DC = hardcore gamers who are more into the old school stuff while ps2 = mainstream (EA/Square/3d0/eidos worshippers.)
Why do you think of my argument?
I reckon if they did a poll on a sony site of whether they would care fora release of metal slug3 there wouldn't be many people. I could be wrong but that's what I've thought over the years. I'm just going by the average ps2 owner and my experiences, not ALL of them(ps2 owners) that are out there. (so don't be offended if you don't fall into the group)
Remember sony killed the Saturn (awesome 2d machine) with ps1, and DC(powerful and efficient in 3d with many non-mainstream, quality releases) with ps2, and sony were never keen on 2d for ps1, so who are ya gonna worship? Eh?
Capcom, Sega, SNK so far have always been more suited to the less popular machines and developed thier fanbase over a long time whereas for other companies it may be catering to thier 'current trend only'. If one of the lesser mainstream companies like sega (who I've always thought of as more 'hardcore' than mainstream) tries to release one of thier games on a mainstream system, it usually doesn't get the acclaim or sales that the big-name releases from the more mainstream companies do.
All of this is my assumptions over the years and it's open to debate but this is what I've believed. How it works is the fans get the respect from them (the non-mainstream companies) by catering to thier (the hardcore fans) needs, and the companies get the $ from these particular fans, and over time as the fanbase loyalty and number of fans slowly grows, these companies make more money in the long term and get more recognition overall as time goes on and they develop a history with the long time fans. The newer gamers that arrive on the 'scene' don't see or distinguish what's so great about these games and whether through ignorance or taste, do not buy them, and instead choose to buy a crapper, more popular, game that seems to be pimped by the media more. (but because there is so many of them, the money generated from these people, means the old school companies are forced to put thier creations on the mainstream systems. Sometimes with slight quality constraints. eg: MSX going to ps1 instead of the more-suitable DC.)
