Thread: Your Top Five Current Favorite Albums?

  1. One new add:

    VNV Nation - Futureperfect

This is actually my first exposure to VNV, and its quality is really impressive. As out-of-place as Ronan Harris' voice is to me - it just doesn't fit the music, to my ears anyway - he's such a good songwriter that it's easy to look past. His music is great, esp. during instrumentals: "Electronaut" is a superb track, as is the surprisingly powernoise-ish "Structure". I really dig "Genesis" and "Beloved" as well, but neither is as good as "Further", the comp track that first caught my interest. In short, I didn't expect to like this disc as much as I do.

  2. - And One - Krieger [holy shit... can't wait to hear the album]
    - God Module - Empath
    - Liar's Rosebush - None Higher
    - Polarlicht 4.1 - Industrielle Hypnose
    - Zentriert ins Antlitz - Genozid

Heh, big Jason from God Module was at the club on Saturday night. I didn't really talk w/ him, but he was in the hallway outside of the dj booth when I left it after asking DJ Tom about a song. I just said "God Module's awesome" and he threw me the horns. \m/

  6. xiu xiu - a promise
    why? - oaklandazulasylum
    mf doom - operation doomsday
king geedorah - take me to your leader
    madlib - shades of blue

  7. Headscan - Shaper and Mechanist

Wow, this is amazing. Influenced by Oneness spirituality, which makes it unusually interesting from a philosophical standpoint. Vocals are Daniel Myer-ish at times, but it fits.

Headscan + Impant - Uturn 2: An Exploration in Techno

Not really techno, but seems more trance-ish to me. Headscan's instrumental track "Slipstream" is an instant classic, with a wonderfully handled sample from the Blade Runner OST.

  8. - Android Lust - Resolution
    - Fektion Fekler - Kling Klang Bedlam
    - Ionic Vision - In Between
    - Severe Illusion - Discipline is Reward Enough
    - Velvet Acid Christ - Hex Angel (Utopia - Dystopia)

Is that a released CD or a burnt bootleg? I'd love to get my hands on that.
