Thread: FEAR DOT COM + Impressions

  1. #21
Well I didn't think it was that bad. Very disturbing imagery including tortue and some nice bloody imagery. The bleeding eyes were a nice touch. The white ball rolling down the hall and the little girl reminded me of Elm Street. As for the lighting it was supposed to be a dark dreary gritty Movie. By no means a classic, I found some things that make it special but hey Horror Movies in the theatres are a dying breed so I take what I can get.

Hardcore Horror fans only, see a Matinee or wait for the video/DVD release.

When I saw it ppl did get scared, and yes I jumped during a few scenes.

  2. thank god i didn't see it and pay full price tonight. i'm actually going to catch a matinee tomorrow so the horrible after taste of the movie won't bother me as much as a full price screening would.

2d - Ring was supposed to be brought out by viz on dvd but i don't know what happened. the mangas are still being brought out i believe, but something went up with the originals release on dvd. so now i think the license for the original films are up in the air. too bad too, i'd like to replace the copies i have for ones that might actually have extras and an overall better quality.

Yeah, I'm disturbed that some studio picked this up instead of House of 1000 Corpses.

I'll believe it when I see it. It was "picked up" by at least one other studio before.

  6. Actually it was never picked up by anyone after the original company made it. Universal (idiots) were supposed to release it but they pussied out and tried to sell it to another company who declined. I think Lions Gate will definately release it. It's kind of bittersweet news cause the theatrical release is going to be cut. Thankfully the DVD will be uncut but it would definately get an NC-17 if released uncut in theaters. Eh.

  7. well, sweet.

  8. Well, I will still rent the movie when it comes out I just watched Kairo(Pulse) Japanese horror film, and its premise is somewhat simulart, aka web site, which after you visit it, you die. That movie was pretty good, with very creepy atmosphere, and sense of doom and lonlyness. I will post my review here soon

  9. Just read Eberts review of this movie. Unlike most of his reviews lately, this one is interesting to read and he seem to like this film for the visuals:

  10. My suggestion would be to NEVER listen to anything Roger Ebert says. On rare occasions he gets it right (like with Dark City) but the vast majority of the time I don't agree with him. Though I agree with him on all the bad points he pointed out with Feardotcom, he his dillusional if he thinks the last 20 mins is a masterpiece. "Oooo the visuals. I creamed my pants when I saw them. The tinting and drearyness of it all." Fuck Ebert.

After I saw the US Ring, I have to say side by side The Ring is way better than Feardotcom.

  12. I will post my thoughts, after I watch it, hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

  13. This movie came out at about the same time The Ring did. They both had similiar concepts but the The Ring just looked 10x better, so I saw that and I passed on this. I don't regret it one bit.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  14. This movie sucked almost as much as The Ring did. I can't wait for a good horror movie to be released...

Dolemite, the Bad-Ass King of all Pimps and Hustlers
Gymkata: I mean look at da lil playah woblin his way into our hearts in the sig awwwwwww

  15. You didnt like the Ring? While not that scary, it was a decent movie, and most definately a good remake of Japanese film.

While well made, I thought that The Ring was just veeeery slow and veeeery boring...

  17. The Ring was great. Unique and quality story with a bit of suspense. It had me wondering till the end.

I'd love to see the Japanese version.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  18. get both versions of the RING March 4th. yes, i said BOTH VERSIONS MARCH 4TH. i should have started up a thread on the dvd rings... i got lazy. unless someone else wants to ?

    RING/RINGU DVD

and i totally didn't see feardotcom when it hit theaters. should i even bother buying it ? i don't have a blockbuster membership anymore so...

  19. Get membership at Hollywood Video then. Its free, you keep dvd/vhs longer, and they are cheaper than at BB.

I didnt had time to watch it last night, and tonight I'll be busy as well, so I guess I'll plan for Friday night, when my family goes to sleep
