I dig the aliens from the first two movies, but 3 really hasn't held up to the test of time. It looks SO super imposed on all of the running sequences.

Also, I only remember Gollum being in LOTR for a couple of seconds. Why would gollum be picked before the Balrog (which is one of my picks BTW)

I also pick the gore & wolf effects from American Werewolf in London.
