Thread: Did I get a broken light gun for my DC?

  1. Did I get a broken light gun for my DC?

I had the Starfighter lightgun for my DC, until it was stolen back in October. The gun worked faily well for HOTD2 on my DC. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a Madcatz lightgun, and gave HOTD2 a run.

WTF!!! I can't shoot at the edges of the screen, and when I try to calibrate the gun, I can't shoot the X's at the edges either. I play on a 27" Sony Trinitron, and have had no problems with my Saturn Stunner gun, but I've heard some light guns combined with certain televisions, don't work too favorably with 3rd party light guns on the DC.

Did I get a broken light gun?

  2. I have an official sega light gun and I have the same problem with HOTD2...if somebody could help out with some info that'd be great. thanks
    What isn't remembered, Never happened

  3. OK, here's the deal. The 3rd party lightguns never got it right. The Madcatz gun might work on a 32 inch sony but not a 27 inch Panasonic (or whatever). The other lightgun may work on the Panasonic but not the Sony. Some TV's won't work with either lightgun. Such is the problem with 3rd party crap, a curse the DC is forced to endure. All I can say is keep hooking your DC up to different TV's until you find one that works. I went through about 3 sets before my Madcatz found a TV it liked.

The official DC magazine stated that very fact. I was just curious to know, if any other DC owners had a Trinitron, with the Madcatz lightgun and if they had any problems. I guess I'll go back to the Starfight lightgun, as it worked prety well, with my setup.
