Thread: Picked up Beach Spikers today....

  1. Jim is using a womans body to play himself...

    uh-huh-huhuhuh-huh-huh...

    *runs out*

  2. It IS pretty funny if you think about it. ::laughs at Jim::

    Town: Arcadia

  3. I use Ulala and Nei as my team.

This game is pretty sweet, but I still suck at blocking.

  4. Ulala from Space Channel 5?

  5. Yes, not an exact Ulala, but a SC5 swimsuit that looks like one of the SC5 outfits and the wacky pink hair with the doowackers on the side.

Nei = Newman ears and a purple/blue swimsuit.

  6. No, it's an exact Ulala. At it's her SC5 2 swimsuit, which can be in orange, white, or... blue I think. I use the orange one.

When starting a new game in World Tour mode use the name ARAKATA. Once you press OK, it will disappear, and you can put in the real name of whomever you want to use (In this case Ulala). This code unlocks: uniform (111~113); hair (76); face (52)

A list of all unlockables (such as Honey from Fighting Vipers) can be found at http://s2.cgi.gamefaqs.com/boards/ge...3630530&page=2

Now can you dig that, Suckaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

  7. Ahh, I want this game. Sega will have sold me both a PS2 and a Gamecube within a month or two, bleh.

  8. Thanks Korly! That piece of news just made my day!

I tried to rent Beach Spikers but Blockbuster didn't have it... so I rented Waverace and Pikmin instead.

  9. It's been half a year since I proposed to someday buy Beach Spikers, and today that dream was realized. So far I've spent about 1 hour playing through the tutorial mode and getting my ass handed to me in one arcade match.

A few initial impressions before I embark on the World Tour mode: I am highly impressed with the fluid animation. Players jump over each other with the elegance of a hurdler, dive in desperation for stray balls (which results in a large explosion of sand), and get nailed in the gut with lighting fast spikes. Control is rock solid, and relies on a three-button setup that follows the typical Sega Arcade Sports mantra "easy to pick up, difficult to master". And for all you fans of lesbian innuendos......well, there's plenty of that too

As for some of the negative aspects of the game, I was a bit disappointed that the announcer is just another generic, overzealous, nuisance. And unfortunately, my tolerance for phrases like “FANTASTIC!” “GOOD JOB!” etc. has weaned greatly over the years. The BGM in BS is on par with most other Sega Arcade Sports games, and contains a uninspiring use of cheesy, over the top rock music previously heard in Sega's other big arcade sports game, Virtua Tennis. And the last thing I would like to mention is the camera. It would have been nice if they provided some sort of stationary camera, because the jerky movements make it difficult to block shots consistently.

To recapitulate, you'd be a fool to pass this game up for $10. Just make sure to call your local Best Buy first to confirm that it's in stock..

  10. It's extremely relaxing and great to mong out to. I liked it so much when I first got it that I cancelled my DOA XBV preorder and have not reordered it since.
