IIRC, VR probably did go for around $79, but I do also remember looking in a the good guys catalog and seeing PS4 for over $100. That being said, I don't know if you could say someone was ripped off for paying that much. That's just how much it went for.
And SearchManX: Yes, on release of games. MSRP was something like $100-110 or something similar. Not too far fetched, considering RPG carts demanded $70+ MSRPs back in those days.
this is why ambitious game ideas die and we're left with mediocrity; because in one way or another, too many people are alienated by ambition. If I had the money, and if I liked mech stuff as much as I did before Amored Core killed it for me, I'd buy Tekki in a heartbeat.
