Thread: I think I am missing the boat on Fire Pro Wrestling D

  1. I think I am missing the boat on Fire Pro Wrestling D

I played Fire Pro Wredtling D for the Dreamcast today and was really looking forward to it from all the great reviews on gamefaqs.com

Am I the only one that thinks this game looks like an SNES game and the gameplay is not too great either.

I am very disappointed. Giant Gram is much better IMO

Give it some time man it's the best/deepest Wrestling Game out there. The Graphics are great IMO and 2-D and animate nicely. If you need some Gameplay advice just ask I'd be glad to help...

  3. Fire Pro Wrestling D is 2D? I thought they moved the series to 3D with the DC release. *-neo

Yes Sir Neo. Classic 2-D Greatness. You should check it out, if your not too big on Wrestling they have tons of other Fighting styles and a mock UFC ring...

    Yes you are.

First of all, there is no way in hell a SNES could handle Fire Pro D. Second of all, if you judge a game based on graphics, FPD probably isn't right for you. The game works much better in 2D and should stay that way IMO.

As for the gameplay not being great, I do not agree, but you are entitled to your opinion. As I always say, look at the Fire Pro series as a Wrestling sim, not an arcade game. If you want fast paced arcade action, Giant Gram and all of the other wrestling titles are for you. Fire Pro is more about recreating the actual wrestling. You have to use strategy. You need to plan out your match. Going in and attempting to use your most powerful moves is an easy way to get your ass beat. you have to work your way up and don't forget to rest your wrestler.

Fire Pro isn't for everyone. It doesn't try to be.

Hmm I think my friends would enjoy this game. Been meaning to pick up a FPW title since hearing about the Saturn version, if the price ever drops below $50 I might check it out. *-neo

    4. Start off using someone like Vader with a High Critical Rate. Good for Newbies... Also when your hear a smack when you lock up that's your cue.

  9. You probably are the only one.

I think the game is great. Gameplay is incredible.

A 2d game with a region specific damage model? That's too good

If you need to get your feet wet with Firepro, and don't want to invest $50 or more, just pick up FPW for the GBA.
