Oh wait...this game wasn't all that hyped anywhere. I just guess you don't like because you don't. How the hell am I, or anyone else supposed to tell you what's so good about it when you've already played it, and already chalked it up to being 'average' at best? Should I try to, or just ram my head against a wall? I'm sure both would be just as painful and pointless ^_^

And its not despair, or lack of fun in my life. Just a matter of preference of the genres I enjoy playing

well, do you enjoy the increase of difficulty in DMC? Do like the challenege and frustration that ensues? Do you not mind the numbingly bad camera?

Monkey Ball is like that, but with monkeys. And no undead soldiers.

Well, I did liked that in DMC, but again, I'm not very big on Monkeys in Balls and Banana collecting.

Marble Madness with mulitplayer modes isn't my idea of genius.

At least some of the replies here have made an attempt to justify the game beyond the "it's fun and I like what I like so fuck off" routine.

Also, I've been making a point to ask around, and to this day I have yet to phyiscally meet ANYONE that owns Super Monkey Ball. Beyond message boards it seems very few people play this game. Can't say I'm surprised.

The gameplay is monkey ball is simple and complex at the same time. thats why i like it

Monkey Ball actually did pretty well at launch, hence the sequel.

And Despair - you've just gotta keep playing. Once you unlock the "Monkey Mob" mini-game where a good monkey cop is framed by crooked monkey cops paid off by the monkey mafia (because he was getting too close) and his family killed, which leads him to vow revenge and go through several exciting gun fights and ball-chase scenes through the hills of San Fransisco as he runs from the monkey FBI and takes on the mobsters, you'll be hooked.

Monkey Bowling is fun too.

I may be in the minority, but it only took me a solid day of playing to unlock all the minigames, so I don't consider that aspect a problem at all.

The main attraction of SMB for me is the great challenge and large variety of gameplay. It's a game that you can always get better at every time you play, and that's something I really like. The mini games are just the icing on the cake, and work well as diversions for when you need to take a break from playing the main game or just relax.

I've put more hours into Super Monkey Ball than I have on any other GC game, yet I still have not fully mastered it, and I am still improving many months after purchasing the game. That is what makes it such a great game in my eyes.
