The PC Engine is one of my favourite systems ever. Like has been already said its definatley not for everyone. Try before you buy, definately. Even thou theres about 700ish games that have been released for it theres only 20ish must have titles. Well for me the Megadrive only has about 5-10s so its not too bad.
Just don't buy conversions of arcade titles which are superior on other systems, whats the point. I hate seeing so called PCE experts going on about the best games being Gradius, Salamander and R-Type. WTF. Get the SS/PSX versions FFS.
As for Don Doko Don, I really hated it the first time I played it but now its my favourite game ever. Oh and Son Son 2 has my favourite VG music ever.
Oh and I hate Ys so much. WTF is the deal with that game.

You'd rather have the Genesis Strider than an arcade-perfect version that allows you to save hi scores and comes with a whole other game? If you say so...Originally posted by Rob
Yes, but I hate emu-releases. Genesis version, please.

See, just because it comes packed with Strider 2 doesn't make it any more appealing as a version of the original Strider. The problem with it is in the fact that it's emulated. Maybe it's my RF connection talking, but emu-releases always sound muffled, look dull and feel slightly off. Whereas Strider on the Genesis sounds good, looks good (both "to me," you can think what you like) and plays sharp. I almost always prefer reprogrammed games, even if technically inferior. The high score saving is always nice, though.
I'd hop on that PC Genjin, the japanese version can be had on the cheap as well. It really is a marvelous game, one of my all time favorites. The control is just so damn fun. PC Genjin 2 looks better, but I don't like what they did to the control. Still worth playing though.

Contra hardcorps - Haven't played it yet. I would like to of course.
mercs,(capgen version is better though) - exactly. MD version is obselete.
musha(aleste) - I really hate Compile shooters, long boring levels.
alien soldier - Hate it
twin tiger - You mean Twin Cobra? If so I'd rather have the PSone version.
lightening force? This is Thunder Force 4 yeah? Rather have the Sat version.
Anything else?
Mega Drive games worth buying:
ALIEN SOLDIER
BARE KNUCKLE 2
CONTRA THE HARDCORE
DYNAMITE HEADY
GUNSTAR HEROES
RISTAR
ROCKET KNIGHT ADVENTURES
SONIC
SONIC 2
SONIC 3
SONIC AND KNUCKLES
VAMPIRE KILLER
WONDERBOY 4 IN MONSTER WORLD
YU YU HASKUSHO
The Thunder Force games are on SS, ditto Sonic with Sonic Jam. I really hate Musha Aleste too, I don't see the appeal. Shame that NZS is a shit port (worst music ever) of the alternate PCB and that Rainbow Islands is the lame Extra Edition.
