Thread: Someone sell me on the PC Engine.

I'm with StriderKyo on the Strider issue. The Playstation version is excellent and is better than the Genesis one(as it should be considering it's over a decade later). The Genesis one was godly for its time and I still have the import version I bought in 1990 but it has been surpassed.

    Hellfire
    Ghostbusters
    Dynamite heady
    Gunstar Heroes
    Revenge of Shinobi
Eswat (as long as you have the patients to make it past level 5)
    Atomic Runner
    Contra
Golden Axe (a good stab at the time)
Super Hang on - repleat with story mode
Gauntlet 4 (a good version of gauntlet no less)
    Ghouls and Ghosts
Maddens (hard to not get into the original)

Sonic wasn't as good as i expected, but was still good.

i could go on and on.
If you missed out on the MD at the time, then i guess there is little/no point going back to it now.

    Fantastic machine IMO.

  4. So start some on-topic PCE discussion, why don'tcha? When do you actually get the thing? What games have you decided on? And why the heck didn't you have any Compile or Hudson (Super Star Soldier is the business) shooters on your list? You should also track down the US Duo re-launch stuff...Ninja Spirit, Gates of Thunder, Lords of Thunder, Air Zonk, etc. You should be able to get all that for like $5, and they're great...

Two games both SCD side scroll shooters:

Cho Aniki- control one of two characters (male and female) in a bizzarre fantasy world. You can power up your normal weapon and have a more powerful weapon usable simply by letting go of the fire button. In addition there are "option" characters that rotate around you. Graphics and sound are excellent (for SCD). There is a Saturn/PSone remake of this game which is complete and utter crap.

Ai Cho Aniki- Same odd fantasy land but this time you control one of two burly musclemen who can perform special attacks with fighting game motions. This alone is a bit of a pain to do in a shooter. Production values are pretty high but I recommend it only if you find it cheap. *-neo

  7. Aren't the Cho Aniki games filled to the brim with flying genitals and things of that nature?

No, that's just what US game mags who need to fill space want you to believe.

And about Air Zonk, oh man I totally forgot about that game! Great little shooter, very addictive with nice graphics. Definitely recommended.

Actually, there are enemies that are based on men. In one stage, the boss is a human pyramid. However, one boss' "penis" has half of a body on it.

  10. Ah. Well, that clears that up.

    Nice Arcadia cover avatar, Seven.
