Thread: I'm online with my PS2!

  1. well that could be because some cable companies read the MAC adress of your network card as your log in bassicaly

so what you would do is youd probably need a router and have the router forward that mac adress then your PC and PS2 coudl be on at the same time
    Where I play

  2. Socom is friggin sweet! If anyone wants some just post.

  3. How does the PS2 handle in an online game of SOCOM? Laggy at all? (sorry if someone's already asked/answered, but I'm lazy and clicked the 'view last post' icon. )

Well, I managed to connect my cable modem, and for some reason SOCOM started 1/10 times, and I've yet to hook up my router. But when I tried to play SOCOM, I first tested my connection, all things a go, but got the message.. "A valid link could not be established with your Internet/Network connection. Please be sure an ethernet cable is properly connected between the Network Adaptor (for playstation/R|2) or compatible USb to Ethernet adaptor and a live DSL/Cable modem, ethernet hub, router, or port. Press the X button to continue." Keep in mind the connection worked when I registered it with the boot disk, and it worked when I tested it, but I couldn't connect to actually play online. Anyone know why?

  5. The Socom servers are friggin screwed up. Yesterday people were warping around. Today it was running fine till a little while ago now their totally down. Damnit!!! Its friggin awesome too! Oh well, play Madden now cause that works just fine.

So Moogle, the reason I get the "A valid link could not be established with your Internet/Network connection. Please be sure an ethernet cable is properly connected between the Network Adaptor (for playstation/R|2) or compatible USb to Ethernet adaptor and a live DSL/Cable modem, ethernet hub, router, or port. I want my TM:BO! *contemplates stealing his friend's Madden, since he has no adaptor*

  7. Rich, did you try your online demos of Frequency and Madden thats on the setup disk?? If not you should just to make sure that it only Socom that wont work.

  8. Rich is your settings on auto? I was having the same exact problem with mine when I tried putting in the IP address manually, it would test fine but no login, I switched back to auto and nothing until I read SamuraiMoogle's thread when he unplugged the modem and that worked. Try unplugging your cable modem's power cord while your PS2 is running and plug it back in without using you PC it worked for me... I can't help you on the router thing though sionce I only have a ethernet hub.

Hmm, actually now that you mention it, I don't think the Madden demo worked. And Werewolf, maybe I should try that.. But I have my settings on manual.. it didn't work on auto.

Update : Tryed unplugging + plugging, but didn\'t work. Still get error that says the plug ain\'t connected and I\'m not online, but I am and the tests work.

Did you try setting all the settings to auto, if not try that... mine didn't work with manual setting because my ISP doesn't have a static IP address service.
