This was my favorite game for an undisclosed amount of time when it first came out. Everything about it just blew me away.
I think a PSX version was also released but I'm doubtess that it can't compare to the arcade version (and nostalgic memory).

A big, sit-down arcade game that was released in the early 90's. It was essentially a point-and-shoot affair. The player moves their targeting reticle and shoots enemies while on a railed course laden with flat shaded polygons.
For its time, the graphics were breathtaking- with spaceship armadas and heavenly bodies sprinkled with laser blasts set against the blackness of space. The sound was also impressive, and gave a good, hearty vibration within the arcade cab.
I recall that a Sega CD version was released, which may have featured a "texture mode". I could be mixing this up with Cybersled...
Who remembers this forgotten Namco shooter?

I played Starblade in the arcades and on 3DO but it never left a big impact on me. I wouldn't mind trying it again. I haven't played the Sega Cd or PS versions.
The name didn't ring a bell until I read the description. I played this game at an arcade in Puerto Rico. Like the laserdisc, hologram and FMV games of old, this title appealed to the graphics whore in all of us.
