Thread: SOCOM's one minor flaw

  1. Thanks Andy, I appreaciate that. The credit should be given to the guys who created those characters though. Pure genious.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

No, it gives you the same view of the area, just a foot or so ahead. Imagine trying to to jump or place yourself on a ledge when your view is further ahead then your characters placement. That's just... silly.

For a FPS that would be a bad placement since that is all you see is that view, you don't exactly move around in that view in SOCOM it is just to zoom in on a target to shoot not to run around and jump in like a FPS, all that takes place in the 3rd person perspective which is alot better then the tunnel view of a FPS IMO

The fact that we're arguing opinions is funny.. =P And I agree with Werewolf, anyways.

  5. yeah I agree with Werewolf. I have no problems with it at all. As far as I'm concerned I like playing the the 3rd person. And I LIKE using the controller. If you dont like online consoles games dont play them and stop bitching about them every single time a new one comes out. Mouse and KB BELONGS on the PC. If console FPSs never ever use them thats fine by me.

And yet no one can answer my question regarding that.

Actually, it's pretty much just been this and Halo, and Halo was long after it came out.

No more so then gamepads only belonging on consoles.

I will answer it for you

There is alot more climbing and jumping then you standard FPS, climbing up ledges and ladders jumping over railings and crates... but the biggest advantage where the 3rd person view comes in is team play because when you cover a teams back you can point away from them and still be able to see the team to follow giving them good support from back attacks

  8. Okies, that makes more sense. (See, explaining can help.)

Also, if I may, how about my second question regarding 3rd-person:
And isn't using a higher camera to spot people hiding kind of removing the purpose of hiding? You know, the whole "out of line-of-sight" thing? That rather takes out most close-range strategies and cheats for peeking into areas.

Not really, although it does make it easier to see if someone is rushing you from the side or tell which direction shots are fired from if you are good at hiding it is very hard to find you or other people, plus camo helps when hiding in brush areas not to mention there are tons of spots you can hide
