Looking for a Dreamcast joystick

Just make sure you nail the "down" motion on the Shoryuken. They used to be a pain in the ass for me too, until I figured the Agetec wanted me to be a bit more precise. I was used to doing a stick roll from my local arcade machines, so the motion I was tapping was forward, down-forward, down, down-forward, button push. The Agetec, in every experience I've had, want you to do a forward, down, down-forward motion. It's a bitch until you get your rythm, but I believe in you Mech, I believe!

I used to have a used version of that joystick too. I sold it because I couldn't do *anything* with it.

Maybe the person who had it before you liked to play MVC on easy mode... and scrub it up.

My arcade sticks need to be just like in an arcade cabinet. No clicking and super smooth 360 degree rotation is an absolute must.

Um... arcade sticks are clicky. Its just so loud in there that you can\'t hear them. Unless all the cabs in your arcade have optical sticks. Which is unlikley.

I hate non-click sticks for one reason: it is SO much easier to get a feel for each of the eight directions using a click stick. D, (BOOM-click), DF (CLICK!), F (Ah... click!)... Satisfaction.

Love the Agetec. I think I need another eventually, however. My cable is iffy and the stick has seen better days.

Is there any way to tighten up a loose stick?

Another thing that I did when I was first getting used to the Shoryuken motion when I got my Neo Geo was that you need to stop your motion when you hit Down-Forward. When I use a pad, I do a sweep of Forward-Down-Forward. On the stick, that wouldn't work, you have to press the button after you are in the Down-Forward position.

No fair! It's my thread, I should have dibs on any Agetec stick that helpful board members might find.

Anyone find one at retail at a reasonable price, I'm more than happy to pay, plus s+h. Be kind, I've got an Ikaruga that wants a competent hand guiding it.

Chances are, I'm simply not doing the motion properly since I'm not used to the stick. I realized I was doing this for half-circles, where I was always stopping a direction too soon. I'm actually better at half-circles on a stick then I am on quarter-circles, funnily enough, but I can't do either at a high speed (combos are damn near out of the question). I also have a hard time doing double-motions for Supers. Practice, practice, practice.

Something that dawned on me yesterday while trying to imagine the motion was the old SF and SF-style guides that had a "Z" motion for the Shoryuken. Since I almost never used a stick, I couldn't ever figure out why they had a "Z" but simply got used to it standing for that movement. Now, holding the stick in my hand and visualizing it, I realize why: because it's exactly a "Z" motion! I feel stupid as hell.
