Thread: Quantum Redshift

  1. Quantum Redshift

This looks to be out this week, or so EBWorld has led me to believe. It's looking like it may have some tits. Halverson seems to like it quite a bit. I'll pick it up even thought I've barely cracked Sege GT yet. Anyone else on the lookout for this one?

  2. Me, though the recent gamespot preview said it wouldn't be out until the holidays... I don't like realistic racers, but I dig games like Quantum Redshift and all reports sound great, though I'll wait for the final reviews to see if it sports some hidden flaws.

  3. I just checked EB again. They're claiming week of the 17th, for what that's worth.

Halverson likes everything quite a bit.[/broken record]

Anyway, the game looks like it could be great, especially considering Curly Monsters broke away from Psygnosis.

  5. QR looks very cool.. any word on custom soundtracks in the game?

  6. Meh, all the characters seem lame. And from the sounds of it there is supposed to be a LOT of story, which I am wary of. It does have very nice graphics, but the cars look huge. I will rent it, but I am not very excited. I rented Sega GT 2002 though, very good game.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  7. Custom soundtracks are in.

By the way, I had absolutely zero interest in the game until I saw it in motion. Very slick.

Also, fans of Wipeout would do well to keep an eye on the game, considering its pedigree.

If I do nab it, it'll be the first racing game I've bought since F-Zero. The first F-Zero.

This is probably the most scatter-brained post ever, and for that I congratulate myself.

  8. The characters seem ok, but I'm more into the racing/weapon in this game. It looks totally badass, too bad it seems to me to have even less style than Wipeout Fusion But that's really compared to the keeness of The DR.

What are the chances of an online version coming out later?

  9. I don't like the character design, but it sure looks fast.

This might actually be the first futuristic racer to challenge the Wipeout series. If it's good, it'll put me one step closer to owning an Xbox.

  10. From a GS interview and to elaborate on the Wipeout connection:
A lot of our team worked on the early Wipeout games before we formed Curly Monsters. Nick, our designer, was the original designer of Wipeout; Lee, one of our artists was responsible for many of the original Wipeout concept renders; I was the producer of Wipeout XL (2097); Chris, one of our programmers, was the lead programmer on Wipeout XL, and Paul -- another artist -- was on the Wipeout Fusion team before he joined us.
