Thread: Damned Xbox demo disk

  1. Damned Xbox demo disk

Got me a shiny new Xbox demo disk in the mail today, I was like "Score, I can finally try out halo to see what the fuss is about." this was not the case, my Xbox will not recognize the demo disk, but will recognize all my other DVD's or Xbox games.

Anyone have helpful tips on how to get this damned thing working?

  2. maybe the gaming gods are punishing you for owning an xbox and never having played halo...what the hell have you been playing? kabuki and bruce lee?

  3. videodrone - everynight, before I go to sleep, of course

I've actually only used my Xbox for like 25 hours between JSRF, GV and Tetris Worlds, which is now gone, thanksfully.

Not much you can do about it, it takes them months to ever send you a replacement if you ask for one. I'm not sure which demo disc you got, but the two times I've ever gotten an OXM demo disc, it skips and stutters all the time.

    Or maybe saving him...

  8. Hmm ok, well I went out on a limb and tried the "boil the disk for like 15 seconds" urban legend. Amazingly, it worked, I don't know how, or why, but it booted up and worked just fine.

Initial impression of Halo - its OK, but nothing I'll get hooked on.

  9. I had the same problem. For some reason the Xbox mag disks gave my Xbox a hard time. I brought it in and had them swap the DVD-ROM out. If its under warrantee you can have Microsoft Tech Support fix it. Did you buy it within 90 days ago?

Either way, sounds like a defective DVD-ROM drive.
