You're right! They should get rid of those half-price games. Then I'm sure the government would lower your taxes accordingly.

I'm not placing the blame on Rich - the federal government is to blame, he is merely taking advantage of it.

The government also subsidizes those under the poverty line. Whether they do a good job of it or not is another matter. Personally, I would think it better off to the individual to give back to community rather than taxes bleeding it out of someone, and even then, the money may not even make it anywhere (or anywhere where the individual would want it to go if it were up to him/her as to where to do the 'giving').

Oh, and I guess any other perk at a governemtnal job is no big deal, right? I mean, when was the last time someone bitched about health, paid vacation, raises, and such as being unfair to the taxpayers?

Not everyone gets half-price electronics as a job perk. If there was any justice in this world, we'd all get daily deliveries of free food, games, and...erm, clothes. It's the least the government could do, considering I never see the money I earn for 5 months out of each year, as it goes straight into Uncle Sam's pockets.

Nobody puts a gun to your head and demands that an individual joins the military. You always have a choice (even if there is a draft). As for mediocre wages, I once made $3.75 an hour working at a freaking McDonalds as a teenager. I know what mediocre wages are, and the armed forces pay far more than what I was making. Not to mention the medical benefits and college money they give you. Ever see Mickey D's helping out their employees in a similar vein? Nope.

If you are drafted you go into the military. Period. Anything else is a federal offense.

We could just not have a military at all. Surely that'd free up a lot of money for other things. Like half off video games for everybody, or perhaps helping the poor as you suggested. For some reason I just don't think that'd work out very well.
