I read this on a Sega Forum. Looks like the cheating continues to plague PSO.
"September 16th, 2002 - Not a weekend has passed and already have the first cheats for PSO Ep 1&2 surfaced, annoying fans of the game. It is possible to "dupe" (duplicate) items without using an Action Replay. This allows for unlimited money and copying every weapon and equipment ad libitum. We won't tell how to do it (emails asking how will be ignored), but it seems to be a gross programmingerror, which won't be easy to fix for Sonic Team. In the meantime several 100 PSO players have complained to Sonic Team about the existance of such a severe bug."

Sad to hear that. I was looking forward finally trying out PSO and online play on the Cube, but now, it might be just a single play game for me. We'll see.

I hope they sort out the cheating for the Xbox version. Oh wait, that's gonna suck because of voice chat.
At least you can still play split screen on the Cube.
