It's mostly just practice.
Everytime I draw something my art just lacks that dynamic atittude.
I suck with proportions, shadows, clothing folds, posture, ...just about everything. But I want to draw and draw well...what did you guys do or do you just have an awesome talent that came at birth? Am I just not destined to draw?
I'll scan some of my stuff as soon as I get access to a scanner...
It's mostly just practice.
My talent started at being able to copy artwork. Where you have a picture of something you like. You look at it then try to draw it exactly as you see it. You might want to use a grid at first. After a while, I tried to draw some of my own artwork. Then just kept practicing.
uh, I'd disagree with that. The problem in copying art as you see it is that it trains you to copy line for line, and section for section, which may make moving into independent drawings hard. The most worthwhile thing is to learn the underlying concepts of drawing - proportion, anatomy, gesture, poses, movement, et al. Best way? Classes, observing people, looking at art you like and breaking it down into simple concepts, and....practice.
