Thread: Online games.

  1. Online games.

Recently on the boards I have noticed a lot of people saying

Oh I want this game online.

Yeah this game would own online.

I hope I get multiplayer and online capabilities for this.

    Will it have online Capabilities?
So it appears that a lot of games would become much more popular, or at least more entertaining if the games had online capabilities.

But the reason I decided to make this thread was because of Lithium and a comment he said about an Online CastleVania. Which I can't find, Lithium if you know where your post is, could you throw it up on this thread?

Anyways what he mainly said was, some games just shouldn't be spoiled by online capabilities.

So as stated, I wonder, what series do you think should be playable online, and what series are just too sacred and well done the way they are, that online could possibly ruin it?

Online multiplayer games would be so much better if it wasn't for the people on there.

Super Monkey Ball 3 needs to be online.

This thread need to be in an Online board.. *glares in Quack's general direction*

  4. Anything meant for multiplayer should go online.

Anything meant for singleplayer should stay offline.

    It's as simple as that.

    Yup.

What soured me on competitive online console gaming was the first console game I ever played online, NFL2k1. I was really excited about the "online console revolution", so much so that I went out and wasted $20 on a keyboard even though it wasn't necessary to play and I had a free one coming in the mail from signing up with SegaNet. But then I actually got on and played a few games. It started out great; the first few guys I played were all really nice, even though they destroyed me (I wasn't very good).

Then I played someone who sucked at the game. He dropped out in the third quarter, when I was four touchdowns up on him. In fact, the entire time I played the game online (for about four weeks), I only ever beat one person who stayed for the entire game, and that was a very close game. He seemed like a decent guy, and might have stayed even if I had absolutely killed him, but I'm not so sure about that. At the time I thought I was the only person playing that would actually finish a game that I was losing badly.

Most people are jackasses. Even games that are SUPPOSED to be co-operative suffer from rampant assholeism (see Online, Phantasy Star). There are some games (especially PC FPS type games that allow lots of people to play at once) where it's not so bad, but even then you have to deal with people accusing you of cheating/being cheap simply because you're better than them. Fuck it. If I want to play multiplayer games, I'll stick with playing with friends in real life. That way I can deck them if they act like jackasses.

  6. One game.. would rule all other games... Pokemon online...

This would be the closest thing to having the a real anime type theme be real....

I award you with the best post of the year award.

  8. Any game from any genre could potentially benefit from online functionality. Just remember that 'online' doesn't necessarily mean multiplayer.

  9. ANIMAL CROSSING ONLINE!!!!!!!!!

i couldnt have said it better than that

things like Castlevania, Mario, Zelda, etc etc those style games should stay far far away from "online" play

now things like Beach Spikers, the New Mario Cart, Gran Turismo, Fighting games, Sports games, etc etc these are the style games to go online
