Thread: Paperboy

  1. How many of you who are claiming Paperboy "doesn't stand the test of time" ever played it with the handlebar controllers?
The spirit of liberty is the spirit which is not too sure it is always right. -Learned Hand

  2. Ah hell, Neozeedeater- Paperboy was gonna be the next "Lets Remember..." thread I was gonna post tomorrow!

Anyways, The arcade handle bars are really cool. I still pull out the Midway/Atari Collection 2 on occasion to play this one.

I have never made it past Thursday.

Now I'll have the Paperboy music stuck in my head for the rest of the day (It will replace the Galaga theme that has plagued me all week)

Aside from the N64 version, the arcade version is the only one I've ever played. An arcade I lived by had it in the free section. It was a neat idea, clever design, and fun for its time. But the chunky control and repetitiveness ruins it today.

  4. I mostly played the NES version back in the day. It used to be so much fun chucking papers into mailboxes or at the doors of the subscribed houses and getting extra points for destroying all the non-subscribed houses(Gotta love knocking over gravestones with newspapers). I remember this game would throw everything and it's mother at you, from mini-tornados to even death himself. I wonder how the game would be if I were to play it now...

  5. Now here is a game who's appeal I never understand. I did like how the guy with the high score's name would appear in the news paper's head line.

  6. I had the little Tiger version. It provided a few minutes of entertainment here or there.

The other version I played was on my friend's PC a while back...

    Old times.

  7. I remember when I was little getting Paper Boy 2 (SNES) when it first came out. I loved that game, played it like crazy. I still play it from time to time.

  8. *agrees with lithium*

  9. I like it.

One interesting way to play is to cause all subscribers but one to cancel (just miss their house) and go on a trashing frenzy.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
