I don't think it would be on the Mega Hits label if it only sold 8,000 copies total. And if it sold over 3,000 this week, it would have only been selling, like, 20 copies a week up 'til now, if that was total sales for MGS2's life.

Just because they don't go lunatic over the game in Japan doesn't mean it has no following. It's sales are just "great" there, instead of "holy shit what the hell."
