Most people probably wretch at the thought of Pit Fighter but I actually liked the game and thought it was good, cheesy fun. Of course, this was the pre-Street Fighter 2 era and fighting games were a rarity, so I would take what I could find.
In 1992, Atari Games released a pseudo-sequel to Pit Fighter called Guardians of the 'Hood. I haven't played this game and I was surprised to find out about it recently.

That game looks awful and if it plays anything like Pit Fighter, it is awful...
...but, man, that's gotta be the greatest name for a game ever. I have to wonder how someone seriously thinks of these things.

I remember when crap like that was considered impressive. It wwas times like that that made me ashamed to be human.

One of the character models for Pit Fighter came to my elementary school for some speech. He even started off with, "You may recognize me from an arcade game..."
This game truly does look like the lowest point in gaming history. And that is exactly why I want to play it.

I played Guardians of the Hood. It does play exactly like Pit Fighter but with Final Fight side scrolling levels and some Mortal Kombat-like special moves. Definitely an improvement over Pit Fighter, but not by much...
