Thread: Ikaruga [DC, GC, XBLA, PC]

  1. Good thing I never cancelled my pre-order from NCSX.com. Of course if Japan Video games gets it first when it comes out I'll just make a quick drive over there.

  2. I bet you anything that "Prototype" is Gun Beat. Remember this:

The game was on Naomi hardware, and got pretty far into development... makes sense to me.

  3. You were an idiot
Why must every damn thread here have someone who thinks it's fun to insult others. Look, the only idiot is duckroll who got some sort of pleasure at laughing at people who had hopes the damn game was coming out. I fail to see how hope equates to being an idiot. Sure, those who "cursed" Treasure about it were wrong, but just because someone got excited it does not mean they are an idiot. Looks like someone needs to step off their high horse for a second. Maybe you should go back and read the damn thread before commenting on the situation. Duckroll acted like an immature little attention whore. Sure, those that blasted Treasure weren't all that mature, but that is no excuse for duckroll to be an ass. He contributed nothing to the thread.

Once again, having hope does not mean you are an idiot. I never 100% believed the rumor, and I doubt many people did. That doesn't mean we aren't allowed to get excited at the prospect of it being released. I'm not getting into this whole thing again as it is a waste of time. Maybe you should think before you try and insult someone

  4. Screw GunBeat. I want an Alpha of a DC-enhanced version of Sin & Punishment.

Eh, I'll take GunBeat. Wow. That looks nice.

I'm looking foward to it, and as far as I'm concerned, it is coming. Never canceled my pre-order.

  5. Holy crap, Versions of Gunbeat or Sin and Punishment would rock hardcore

  6. To reiterate what I stated in the main thread: *beats my own head against the wall*

I'd love that to absolute death, but I wouldn't place my money anywhere at this point. Could be something we've never heard about.

Not that it matters. Me? Completing Ikaruga on one credit? HA! Right after I get bitten by a friggin' radioactive game sprite and gain the ability to hyper-sense my way through electronic media. Kind of like an even more geeky version of Spider-Man, without the whole wall-climbing bit.

God I suck at games. And yet I love them so, my own personal vicious cycle of getting better at doing badly.

  7. hopefully someone will upload a save file with them beating it in one credit then :P

Bingo. Booyaka is probably my only hope in that regard, unless I find some way to trade directly with Sleeve or Mode.

  9. Pessimism, BE GONE!!

  10. While I still held out hope for a DC port of Ikaruga, I still asserted that the May 30th release date MADE NO SENSE because there were zero-count-'em-ZERO press or advertising of the game in the game's native territory (as in, the territory and country where the game is meant to be sold, not an overseas import online retailer). Until I heard a news report from Japan media or Treasure themselves, any news of the game was very hard to accept as anything other than baseless rumor.

That said, I guess NCS' distributors knew what the real deal was all along. You just don't make up an #SKU. So I guess the rumor had some credence to it. Now it makes me wonder where the May 30 date came from . . .

  13. Those pessimists must be feeling pretty stupid now. Lol
I knew treasure was full of shit all along (as in full of shit NOT making an eventual dc port) but I just didn't want to anger anyone.

There's a difference between what a company wants you to think for thier own reasons, and what could actually turn out to be true. Company heads bullshit just as much as you and me.

  14. Lovely, after a year and a half of whining about this game and being told by several people in the industry that it had no chance of a DC release.....admittance of a 99% complete version of Ikaruga DC.

The prototype game sounds intriguing, I can't imagine Treasure is putting alot of effort into extras so I'm guessing it's....

    1. Gun Beat- A few playable levels at least. But still Treasure said very little about this game's demise so it's doubtful it would resurface now.

    2. One of the various flash based Ikaruga games...

    3. Radiant Ikaruga- Bear with me, I can see Treasure taking the Silvergun and dropping it into this game (no changes in actual game) just to give players a new ship and weapons to play with. Would be pretty easy to execute but seems doubtful.

    4. Wireframe Ikaruga- Take Ikaruga, strip the textures, throw some REZ effects in, this is a complete brain fart of mine.

Honestly I think it'd be cool if Treasure threw a Mega Drive title such as Alien Soldier on the disc. Whatever, I finally get to play Ikaruga on DC, if it's the last quality title on the system I'm happy. And Duckroll was acting like a ass, even if he had a few good points. *-neo

It could be, but honestly given the completeness and hardware of Gun Beat, that would probably be the easiest one for them to include. If they include something else it's probably not going to be any less work than GunBeat.

  16. Well if the rumors are true this time, they said it was about 99% completed port with finishing touches and packaging I would imagine to finish it up... if that is so then Treasure has been lying the whole time about there not being a home port if it is that far along, just shows that you can't take anyone's word these days

    You sure about that?

    You gotta recieve!

Erm, sorry. It just fit so well I thought I should toss it in. In any case, you can believe me that I'm cheering it on, but as for now I'm sticking with the same stance I've had all along: I'm damned happy about the news and believe (keeping the hope alive), but won't be screaming like a schoolgirl goosed by an entire boy band at once until my copy is in my happy little hands.

And yes, my hands can get quite happy.

  18. For now, don't worry about what prototype game is included.

The first non-Treasure employee to find out will be Mode 7

I'm thinking the few hundred asian gamers who've been playing it constantly in the arcades for the past few months might have a bit of an edge.

  20. omg!, it has happened.
The thread has once again become one!

  21. did anyone else notice that the monster thread devoured the new one??
    LOL.. i knew it would..

but anyway, as you all can imagine, i couldn't be happier..

    bring on september 5th!
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

  22. *slurp*

  23. Ah, I see fen's doing the Famitsu news full-time now. Cool. (/me bookmarks the main Famitsu news page) Here's hoping vsen resurfaces soon.

    They might.

  25. dont need to go thru 99 pages to see if it's been posted but Mad Mans Cafe is also jumping on the rumor mill....

    99% done.....hmmmmm.

  26. YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! This is the best thing to happen to shmup fans in YEARS. The only thing in my eyes to equal the goodness of the Saturn Battle Garegga and RS ports. Possibly the sweetest gift we hardcore gamers will get for a long, long time. The DC is officially the most insanely cool undead "dead console" of all time!

Hey Duckdung, er, I mean Duckroll, how's that crow pie taste? hahahahahahaha

  29. Is this really the best shooting game ever made, since it's garnering so much hype here?

nope, it's just the most hyped shooter.

while it's great news that ikaruga is coming out, i personally rather see a port of raiden fighters jet.

The best? Probably not. However, it looks slick as fuck to me and adds a really cool twist that makes my head hurt just watching videos of it and trying to keep up with which color is which. Hell, just playing the damned java simulation messed with my head, and that's enough for me to realize I need it.

Which means right after it comes out, we'll have this thread filled with people making sweet, sweet love to it and proclaiming it the best thing ever, and the other half bitching endlessly about the game and how it didn't live up to their expectations/hype/cover art/what have you.

I'll probably be with the former party, myself.

It plays like Ikaruga would if you didn't shoot anything.

Click the button to switch between black and white, each color absorbs itself, but makes you vunerable to the other. The trick, obviously, is to not die.

In-game, absorbing colors helps you powerup your special shot, and killing those of the same color nets you bonus shots to absorb, so long as you can stay in that color long enough to get them and not get killed by them.

  37. I hope they include strategy vids like Mars Matrix did. That was quite helpful, if only to say "no, it's not impossible."

Well, they're currently floating around the web, though I know what you mean.

While responding to a question at my site, something popped into my head.

Treasure decides to announce Ikaruga for DC, and since they have the port already done, they decide on May 30th as a good release date for it, since it'll have been in arcades for a decent time by then. Then, they decide to add to the game, namely, the prototype they mentioned, and so decide to retract the date they were going to give out and push it back. However, a certain Dutch magazine doesn't get the call/email/notice/letter to not hand out that date and release it by accident.

And we end up with what just happened.

Just a stab in the dark.
