(I haven't but stupid me had to go poke around at GameFAQs and I read about it, and after thinking, thats rather common in Treasure games)
ikaruga isn't a sequel.. many of treasure's games have shared details or similarities.. look at mechdeus's site for a list of those.. that doesn't make all those games sequels of each other..
if a sequel can be almost completely different and play differently than its prequel, then ikaruga could be a sequel, yea..
so i finally beat ikaruga tonight.. the last stage is amazing..
i won't deny that it took me a few continues to do it, but i did it and now i could really use a translation FAQ.. lol..

It isn't completely different nor does it play completely different. It's as close to a sequel as any game whose predecessor featured time travel can get.
Project RS-2, let's remember. Semantics, I know, but unless that means Project Runny Spaghetti 2, I'm fairly comfortable in calling it a sequel for now.

Beat it last night on Easy. Pretty cool ending, the last few forms of the end boss were a bitch though. I beat it using 6 credits and 4 of which I used on the end boss alone. Tried playing through Normal afterwards. Holy shit Level 4 on Normal is insanity... and don't even get me started on that fucking boss.![]()

Remember Black Matrix was called "Project Gun Fronteir 2" and I'll be damned if I call that a sequel. It's a followup, even a spinoff, but it's not really a direct sequel. I know there's the plot parallel, but are the two games even set in the same world?

When i played ikaruga, i was immediately dissappointed. First thing being the gigantic black borders on either side of the screen. Why! i have a widecreen tv so its even worse. Secondly, the graphics. Their nothing special, what weve seen from the next gen consoles makes this look like a gameboy colour game. Thirdly the ANOYING! robotic voice of the computer, when you pound those bullets in to enemies.It says something, but i cant make out what it is. crap!
Thats not all. The system plays different. Where you can change style from a red ship to a blue one. This means if your blue u fire blue bullets and can absorb enemy blue bullets. But you cannot asborb red ones otherwise you'll die. Its vice versa if your a red ship. crap!
Finally, ive only seen one gun in the game, and it only have five levels. And i completed the first two in 10minutes.!

I'm here to gush.
Ikaruga is AMAZING. I was up until 4 A.M. last night playing it, and only half the time was I playing seriously. The other half I was just trying to learn all the little nuances of the game and having fun. I haven't made it far yet, but I was starting to settle into a groove when I forced myself to go to bed. Some bits and pieces I love (from what I've seen):
*The Layer Section-like super attack. Crisscrossing energy streams RAWK!
*Weaving in between the two flying fortresses about midway through Stage 1, switching between black and white and laying down major firepower. At times I had this down to a science, other times I could do nothing but watch helplessly as white bullets crossed with black and realize, "I'm trapped!".
*The booming, pseudo-arranged music, this really reminds me of Soul Calibur's soundtrack. I love the transition that occurs between the 1st level intro and the beginning of level 1, it totally gets my blood pumping.
*Trying to avoid the waves of black bullets fired by the knight boss and the end of level 1 while white. PaCrappa almost made it last night, but was shot down just before destroying the shield. I'm determined to pull this off tonight.
*The whirlpool-like waves of enemy fighters that engage you at the start of stage 2. My best strategy here is to KEEP MOVING until the ball-looking fighters come in, and then its time for precision dodging.
As you can tell, I'm having a blast. I did not dig Radiant Silvergun and I only kind of like Treasure, but this game is sheer brilliance. Good, good times.

Well, after picking up my copy last night and speaking with people at length about it, I have come to a conclusion: everyone says "Ikaruga" differently. For example:
*ICK-ah-ROO-ga. This is the most common way I have heard it said.
*I-ka-ROO-ga. This is how I was saying it at first.
*EE-ka-ROO-ga. The general consensus is that this is how it would be said in Japan, so I have been saying it like this since last night.
Which is "correct"? How do you say it?
