All right, if you want to bash F355 Challenge, at least bring out the points that are worth mentioning.
Not:
So, apparently, its OK to like 'sim' games like Gran Turismo, but when a challenging games comes along, its simply dismissed as frusterating. With racing gamse everyone wants to sit down and win a race on their first try, and thats the reason the genre is so fucking stale. I doubt anyone sits down w/ a new fighter (or any other game that requires SKILL) and expects to master the game in the first few trys...why is it different with racing games? If we had more games like F355 Challenge I'd give the genre more respect.Did I mention that Ferrari F355 is not for everyone? This game took me a good long time to dig into and grow skilled in, and it's not something you can simply pick up and play easily. No. It's a chore, a labor of love, a fight. It's not even entirely fun, either.
Aside from this, he forgot to mention that the PS2 version is unplayable on the standard controller, because there is no support for analogue break and gas. Why the hell Sega forgot this is completly beyond me, its pracactly forcing people to play w/ driving assists turned on.
Doug goes on to bash the music (which sucks, but I like), and for some odd reason the sound effects too, which are actully really good.
I'm guessing he put about an hour into this game, got frustrated and dug up the Dreamcast review as a template to finish it.

You mean there are people that actually base their purchases off of IGN's reviews... That's just scary.
Can't say I was too impressed by the sound effects either, engine noise excepted. A bit repetitive and unconvincing.
Is this the same Ferrari F355 that was supposed to come out like a year ago from Acclaim? The same one that is on DC? Why did it take so long to come out?
Yeah, its original a Sega arcade game, but Acclaim published it on the Dreamcast two years ago because at the time they had the licencing from Ferrari. The PS2 version was announced shortly before E3, I think. Its the same game, only with shity control.

I was reading the OPM review of the game today, the reviewer disliked the game and had a fairly intelligent argument to back it. One thing though, he was unhappy that the cars have decals on them, he would have preferred a plain Ferrai.....umm it's racing sim not a drive in the country with a Ferrai.
Anyone know what's been added to the PS2 rev? I know a behind the car view is optional now.. *-neo
i wasn't so thrilled about the game either, mostly because of the nonexistent sense of speed..
it felt like 40 mph, tops..
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!
How about next time you just send the hate mail to him, and keep it off the boards, eh?
