Mode: Rare wanted to be bought by someone. They put themselves up for sale. And Nintendo willingly sold their share of Rare to Microsoft, something I doubt SOny would be willing to do with Square.

Hate to bust in with a theory, but maybe this just has to do with Final Fantasy XI. Think of the recent rumors in EGM about the game not reaching these shores on PS2 at least due to the stated fact that Square does not have the resources in the US to do server maintainence alone.

Think MS would offer to run the servers for Square to get FFXI on the XB? Remember there's a PC version of the game already...it wouldn't be too hard to port...
