Nintendo to invest in Namco?

Today I recieved an email from theProducer of Namco that Nintendo will buy over 60% of Namco's stock atthe end of the 2002 fiscal year. This is Nintendo's latest attempt to retain its position as top business in japan, apparently, most or all of namcos franchises will be pulled from xbox and ps2 once the purchase is made. A single subtle hint was made when Nintendo announced that namco would develop Starfox Armada for the Nintendo Gamecube and as far as im guessing Sega will soon follow the same path because it is working second party on the triforce arcade system.

Probably BS, but rumors seem to be the hip thing to post these days. Especially ones concerning the purchase of developers.

If this were true, it would make some sense because Namco has been hurting financially a bit of late, and Nintendo needs to replace Rare somehow.

Unless someone ran that through BabelFish, it sounds like bullshit to me. Not that I don't think such a deal won't happen - I'm just doubting that source.

That would qualify as a definate "mega-ton" announcement. Soul Calibur 2 exclusive to Nintendo? Even the NPD charts wouldn't be able to skew GC sales lower then..

Because if it were Microsoft, everybody would piss and moan. "Just another attempt by M$ to buy all the good games they can."

Ironic how one company can be good and another can be bad when all you are to them is 'Customer #1392384.'

If that happened it'd be awesome, I'd rather have Nintendo buy out Capcom but hey, it's a big developer that's not being bought by MS so I'm not complaining. I just hope they don't befowl the Cube with shitty Tekken games....
