    Formation Z/Aeroboto

Formation Z was 1984 arcade shooter by Jaleco which was released domestically by Williams as Aeroboto.

I haven't played the arcade version but I have the Famicom one. As anyone who was a kid at that time can remember, the mid '80's were the height of the Transformers fad. Formation Z is a lot like Transformers in that you play as a robot that can transform into a space ship. The game isn't spectacular but the graphics are amazing, with impressive parallax.

    Anyone remember this game?

  2. Holy shit- I was just thinking about this game as I was playing Robotech.

I used to play the arcade machine at a gymnasium in my town. Since it was the only game they had there, I got to spend a fair amount of time with it.

I don't remember liking this one in particular, but the transformation aspect was memorable. Don't recall much about parallax- but back then I had no idea what the hell that was anyway.

What's cool is that the player ship from Formation Z also is in Jaleco's 1995 shmup, Game Tengoku/Game Paradise.
