Yes me too! I was really looking forward to a nice long discussion about clay versus sandy soils and the perfect Ph balance.

IMHO, sod doesn't get much better than Red River clay. Stuff sticks to anything it touches. If we can't have a discussion on sod, I suppose we'll just make one.

You know, for months and months I've been waiting for a good discussion of lawn care and various types of landscaping options. I've been disappointed in all of my usual online hangouts. I go to www.sod-discussion-lists.com and www.what-type-of-sod-do-you-like.com and even the somewhat bombastic www.sod.com. Nothing. There is never discussion about the things near and dear to my heart. They talk about fashion, and politics and even Tropico, but no sod. talk to be found. So I logged on in my usual state of apathy, knowing that on cafetropico, sod isn't even mentioned. But I entered the arena andthere was a thread shining in gold as the others looked oddly diminished. "What is your favorite sod?" Needless to say, I felt much like Cortez as he saw the Pacific. I felt like Posh Spice as she found the key to the All Gucci and more Store". I even felt like Robbo when I spell Australia correctly. I clicked and waited what seemed like eons as the page loaded, and what do I see? Soda. SODA!!! I will lie down nowa and dream the impossibile dream. The dream of a place where I can discuss sod in opeace.

I was seriously expecting a discussion on sod. Anyway I also like Fanta the most. However, it's hard to find it here in the USofA. I was vacationing in Mexico, they had an excess of it.

If you ever return to Mexico, try their Coca Cola. It has more fizz than any other Cokes from other countries. This comes in handy for mixed drinks as it doesn't go flat as fast. Fortunately, it has become a popular export item to Texas. I get it for a $1.75 for an honest to god glass bottle liter. It makes the best cuba libres.
As far as regular soda, I don't drink it that much. I'd have to say Schwepp's Ginger Ale or Squirt would be my favorites. I hate lots of sugar.

Dr Pepper's is my top international favourite.
Then there are a couple of more local nature that appeal also; - One that was called Pommery Fräs by the Zeunerts brewery. The name had to be changed due to complaints from the champagne manufacturer Pommery, and Zeunert's have stopped producing soda... - Another very tempting soda was called Hembygdsmust and produced in a small quantity.
I could go on with a couple of others that I rarely ever find in the shops.
Cheers Olle

I tried the Mexican Coca-Cola. It has more sugar as well. They have some here in California too. You have to go to a Mexican Foods store to get it.

Well we have only one type of sod here, so I ran out of conversation on it and switched to soda. I'll try this again. We have a clay/sand soil mix here. Only San Augustine grass will grow in it. It handles winter ice and 115 degree droughts with ease. Good stuff. Not the prettiest or softest grass, but survives anything. That's it. Nothing more to say about it unless you want me to repeat myself. Back to soda. Occasionally I like a root beer. I find that IBC makes the best. I'm not sure if it is national, but, I have seen it in other southern states.

Fanta is sorta watery when you have tasted other sodas with strong orange or mandarin/clementine taste. Fanta seems dull to me... but I still like it, I alike alot of sodas. A very disgusting soda is that vanilla pop thing. And my grandma wlays says "hey, do you want a pop?" and I always think she means lollipop so I say yes and then she gives me that vanilla sodapop thing. (the tounge as in a gross way)

If you want to try a strange, but, good soda, buy a Big Red. Kind of a berry/bubblegum flavor. Number one soda in San Antonio, Texas.
It's made by one of the big 3 (Coke, Pepsi, DrPepper/7up). I'm not sure which one though or if it is distributed more widely than Texas.
