ok here's what happened I uninstalled tropico 2 ages back and when i go to install it again I put in disk 1 autoplay kicks in an the window comes up giving me the option to install but when i click install the window closes and nothing happens. and when i go to my computer and open the disk's contents and i click setup it only tries to uninstall tropico again. if i check add remove programs it tells me tropico is still installed but when i ask it to uinstall it it goes through the process skipping from 1% to 100% really fast and i when i click finish and go back to add remove programs it's still there even though i can't find any record of it on my computer. does anyone have a solution to this problem?? please i really want to play this game

I have tried to uninstall Tropico 2, I don't know how many times, ever which way, with no luck. This game has been played so much in the last 3 years that it is the largest file on my computer-1853 MB Grin. I have deleted everything I could on it possible. I did uninstall Macho several months back with no problem, but with this one it is a pain. I like the game alot, but I need the space for a project I am working on. If I ever uninstall it will I ever be able to reinstall it.  I am not computer savy, so not willing to mess with registry. Does any one have any ideas out there?

ever which way
It is helpful to know specifically what someone uses to "uninstall" a program.

Sometimes the uninstall utility that comes with the game is identical with the Windows\Control Panel\Add-Remove Programs utility and sometimes it is not. One really should, in case of doubt, use both.

A great many of the problems such as those described have to do with "stuff" left in the Registry File by uninstall utilities which do not clean the Registry. If you are not good with the "innards" of your computer, you need to get professional help specific to your machine rather than just one game. It may be that a commercial utility such as Norton's Clean Sweep might be all you need.

In the case of the huge file, simply uninstalling the game may still leave a  huge residue of "saved game" files. I don't know. I do know that Tropico had no in-game utility for deleting old, unwanted "saved games."
