How do you get a good economy?????

I have been playing for many months now, and not been able to get a great economy.  It is just bad.  I just about get up and run around the house when I have year that we stay above zero.  Can someone help?

What kind of economy are you trying to get up?

Are you heave on the industry side? If so, you should have plenty of teamsters and dockworkers. Make sure you also build roads for them to walk on so work gets done faster. You also have to have about two sources of raw material for each factory.

If you're trying to get a tourism economy up, make sure that your tourism rating is up, that crime isnt high and that you build attractions early on for the tourists.

There are many threads in this forum relating to both these types of economy. You can mix and match but its tough to do both.

Try going through some of the old threads and you will find lots of help there.

ok-
at the start of the game, change 2-4 of your farms into cash farms.  Then, if there is good logging and mining around, build those.  After a few years you should have some cash flow and thats when your ready to invest in entertainment, and industry (logging mill, cannery etc...).  After that you should have a very steady cash flow.
-Obviously, between those steps you must raise you worker's pay, give them housing, schooling etc..

   While doing what sammy said may help, but if you really want a good economy, you should aim straight and all out for industries, check out other threads for help...
