Best starting region/location in Sandbox?

Hi, new to the forum long time player though.

I was wondering if anybody knows if theres REALLY a difference made in where you place your "pirate cove island location" in sandbox mode.

The manual states that different regions provide different values.

However I haven't really noticed a massive difference, but then again I haven't played/used  ALL regions available either...

Anybody know the best vs worst regions or if theres really any difference at all? (besides difference in distance for ship travel)

I believe one (big) factor is Land Mass.

All other things being equal, I can often get "bigger" islands generated on locales that sport such continental terra firma (e.g.  Yucatan, North Cuba).

If you set your Pirate Hideout on some tiny island somewheres (e.g. Venezuela, Florida Keys), then you get these dinky islands every time.


Not sure what "other" factors come into play regarding picking a Home Turf, other than, as you already said, the travel distance to various other regions.
