Whats the best way to setup the map to get good land for sugar?

I don't think there is one, like there is for coffee and papaya. Just have to be swampy.

Generally, you can get swampy areas in the areas between hills.  I don't think there's a stting for the number of hills generated.

You're right, there isn't. But you can use the built-in editor and add as many hills as you like.

Any average island will do, but again, sugar crops are not dependant of mountains but of swamps and mostly, rain.

Ah. But the mountains block the rain, so they will generally be wet on the upwind side.... If you have a totally flat island, you cannot be sure that any area will stay wet enough for sugar.

I once wanted a swampy island for sugar/rum, so I just made a document with these settings:

CheckFrequencyWeekBegin
ExecuteOnlyOnce

GeneralEffect AddTo CloudRate 233
GeneralEffect AddTo ImmigrationRate 10
GeneralEffect AddTo FarmingRate 10

That, after playing the time for a month or so, made the sugar rating greener than the corn! Smiley
