Also, please be aware that remote linking of images on this forum from other sites is generally not permitted and is poor netiquette as well.  Attachments from those who are not active members may be removed at any time.  In future, this board will be cleared on a regular basis to save space and bandwidth.

I am aware that linking an image from this site (one that lives here) to a post on another discussion board is very bad form. But is linking an image which lives on webspace elsewhere to a post here, also a "no-no"?

Perhaps I am just tangled up in the to & from involved.

If someone wishes to use an image in their signature here (or for an avatar you do not supply), it should "live" on webspace which they own or have permission to use and be called by a link to that location (from here). Using an image which lives here (either in the avatar bank or as an attachment to a post) in a signature or post or otherwise on another website by means of a link from that place (to here), is a no-no.

Is that a fair, if confusingly complex, statement?

Yes, you are absolutely correct CK.  The To-From is confusing!  But what you said is what I meant.  Linking to images or files on personal or legitimate webspace from posts here is perfectly fine.  But linking to images here from elsewhere is what I'm trying to prevent.  Thanks for clarifying that.

Also, my offer is a standing one!  I would much rather host your .jpg or .gif than have it sit here.

And this goes if you need an avatar for any other site or forum too, I won't set a standard.  I just want to see the space used here, for this site.
