Has anyone tried inviting the Pope over to your island?

I haven't tried this scenario before and would like to hear of your experience in doing so.

You don't actually see the pope, of course?

The whole thing is quite expensive, however. First, there must be a cathedral, then you have to pay $10,000.

... You don't actually see the Pope, of course? ...

There is no action on the ground of the island.

However, as with all decrees - there is a short action scene which plays in the Circle Window. So the Pope does appear ever so briefly to alert players.

There have been several reports posted.

"Jan. 1990 - All the people of Eden gather to receive the Pope's blessing!  Adam, at 60, has lived to see it."

I used 'advanced search' on only a few boards for the word "pope" and got two pages of results.

Of course, not all were descriptions of the results of use of the decree - but many were.

The decree has been used in game play.

I would have searched for papal. It is well worth the cost in a happiness scenerio. You get a happiness and respect boost with pretty much all of the factions, and of course the religious are ecstastic. You need more than just a cathedral and cash though.... I am pretty sure you have to have so-much respect with the religious.... I think Cordial IIRC.

Your IIRC is absolutely correct.

Cordial is not exactly easy with the Religious Faction, I think.

I used the Papal Visit to win Born Again on about the hundredth try. You almost have to use it to get happiness high enough to win.
